The PL3 Parallelogram represents, what Bigelow refers to as his departure form "the second dimension into the third."  What he intended with this comment was that until the parallelogram series his designs were conceived in two planes only and extended downward in the height dimensions to create the third dimension (height).  It is at this point in time that Bigelow demonstrates a new form of sophistication in his growth as a designer and craftsman.
